Xerox has announced it has acquired Impika, a manufacturer of aqueous inkjet presses. Impika product lines include iPrint, a range of continuous feed production printers with print speeds as fast as 375 meters per minute, and iPress, a range of graphic communications digital presses with resolutions of up to 2,400 x 1,200 dpi. Full details of the acquisition, including details as to how Xerox intends to blend the products into its range of digital imaging devices, will be in the Seybold Report issue that publishes today. more

Xerox Corp. has announced a Web-based tool for viewing with real-time information on the iGen4 press via PCs, Macintoshes, or tablets. The Xerox Production Information Management System shows real-time production performance, including machine status and productivity metrics, and allows operators to balance printer loads. more
Xerox has announced a free Webinar series to help printers find new ways to increase business, strengthen sales, and maximize financial returns. At Graph Expo 2011 Xerox subsidiary XMPie announced uVideo, a video personalization system that is a new component of its PersonlEffect software platform. uVideo is described as a cinematic-quality video personalization solution fully integrated within a complete 1:1 multi-channel platform. more
At Graph Expo 2011 Xerox announced the CiPress 500, a waterless, high-speed inkjet printer. The company says the CiPress 500 provides print speeds of up to 500 feet or 2,180 full-color ppm. dmh Marketing Partners, a direct-mail company that creates more than 800 million printed pieces annually, was involved in testing the system before release. more
Xerox has announced the DocuColor 8080 Digital Press is now available worldwide with installations starting in August. The U.S. list price is $260,000. The press images on paper weights up to 300 gsm at 80 pages per minute and works with three print servers offered by Xerox, EFI, and CREO. more
The Seybold Report has confirmed with Xerox PR staff that Xerox will stop taking orders for wide format products in the United States and Canada in 2011 as existing stocks run out. The Xerox European and Developing Market division will continue selling wide format products and will source new products. The spokesperson said due to market conditions, Xerox has decided not to invest in wide format product engineering in 2011, but will continue to provide support, supplies, media, and parts to customers for their existing equipment for a minimum of five years from the last install of a particular product line.
Xerox has demonstrated its waterless Production Inkjet System based on its solid ink technology. The new system prints on uncoated stock. Xerox has announced the Espresso Book Machine, built on Xerox technology, will be available for purchase directly from Xerox. The company will now market, sell or lease and service the system, giving retailers new ways to drive revenue. The company will demonstrate the equipment at Graph Expo in early October 2011. more
Rochester Software Associates has introduced www.RDOPrint.com, a Web-based print job conversion service that converts Xerox proprietary RDO files to PostScript while retaining job ticketing information. The site can also can convert RDO files to PDF for viewing, sharing, and archiving. The on-demand conversion service uses RSA’s RDOPrint software. more
