Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) has announced a newly developed Right to Know training program in response to changes to the Hazard Communication Standard implemented by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration. The updated Hazard Communication Standard features changes concerning the ways in which hazards must be classified, how they are to be labeled as such, and in what format and with which specific information Safety Data Sheets must be presented, and the SGIA is offering this training program in response to these changes and impending implementation deadlines. more

Esko has announced the company will be conduct six free educational summits on the latest in flexo imaging technology in the United States during November and December. To aid in its educational efforts, the company will transport a CDI 2420 flexo imager to meeting, which will be held in Kansas City (Nov. 14), Dallas (Nov 21), Oakland (Dec. 3), and Atlanta (Dec. 11). The presentations will conclude with open houses at Esko offices in Ludlow, Massachusetts (Dec. 17) and Esko Americas headquarters in Miamisburg, Ohio (Dec. 19).
Esko will repeat HD Flexo and Full HD Flexo workshops in the morning and afternoon. The CDI flexo imager will be operating throughout the day to show guests how flexo plates are imaged. A team of Esko representatives will also be available to answer any questions. A presentation offering an overview of structural packaging design will be offered at Ludlow. more

RR Donnelley has announced the company will acquired Consolidated Graphics, a printing company based in Houston, Texas. Consolidated Graphics shareholders will receive a combination of cash and shares in RR Donnelley. The press release announcing the purchase states the total transaction value is approximately $620 million, plus the assumption of Consolidated Graphics' net debt. more
Been Down So Long: Parsing Reports of Executives’ Confidence Levels for 2014 By Molly W. Joss Each year Cribb, Greene & Associates (CGA), a mergers and acquisitions company which specializes in newspaper and media properties, conducts a confidence survey of newspaper publishing executives. The company released the 2013 survey results earlier this month, and, for the most part, the results indicate the respondents are upbeat about how well their companies will fare in 2014.
