Graphics has announced Energy Xtra, a new addition to its
no-bake plate line-up. The company says the new plate is highly durable and has a
600,000 impression life without baking and more with baking. more
Xitron has released Navigator Direct-to-Plate Workflow for polyester CtP systems based on Epson Stylus Pro printers. The system incorporates user controllable job management and ticketing, integrated soft proofing, printer device control at operator workstations, PDF creation and preflighting, ink remapping, imposition integration, and scriptable hot folders. ECRM Inc will release its most advanced 8-up platesetter, Nautilus 8, at drupa. Nautilus 8 is available through ECRM’s worldwide dealer network and will be featured in its booth at drupa, Hall 7a/Booth C09. more
Fujifilm has opened a 200,000 square foot plate manufacturing facility in Tilburg, Netherlands. The plant will help meet the surge in demand for CTP technology plates and provides manufacturing redundancy for the company's plate lines in Japan, China, and the United States. more
Kodak has extensively upgraded its plate manufacturing capabilities in its Leeds, UK facility, increasing its production capacity of process-free plates. The company is responding to growing demand from commercial and publication printers. Total demand for these products has grown by an average of 35% during the past two years. The enhanced production line will also help Kodak prepare for introduction of a new product early in 2012. more
Glunz & Jensen has acquired majority interest in Danish technology company KH-Microflex. The acquisition strengthens Glunz & Jensen’s capabilities within product development, supply chain, and distribution in positioning, exposure, and processing of flexo plates and sleeves for chemical process and dry technology. more
Color-Logic has certified the Kodak Flexcel NX Digital Flexographic plates for use with the Color-Logic Process Metallic Color System. The certification is based on tests by Kodak and Color-Logic. Color-Logic Director of Sales and Marketing Mark Greeves said, “The Flexcel NX Plate is remarkable in its ability to consistently hold flexographic dots as small as 10 microns, exactly the characteristics desirable when printing metallic images or imaging on metallic substrates.” more
Agfa Graphics will introduce the :Amigo TS, the next generation of the
:Amigo ThermoFuse plate that runs up to 50% faster than the original
:Amigo, at IPEX in Birmingham, UK, May 18-25. The :Amigo TS has
improved image contrast and a run length of 200,000 impressions without
post baking; it can be baked for longer runs. more
VT Graphics has installed the 1,500th Cyrel Digital Imager (CDI) and
integrated it with the EskoArtwork Digital Flexo Suite to create plates
for point-of-sale displays and shipping containers. more
Agfa Graphics has announced the second generation of its :Avalon N8
platesetter series with updates that cut energy consumption without decreasing performance. Agfa says the new :Energy Elite model
eliminates the need for post baking, while the :Azura TS and :Amigo
provide greater ease of use and ecological benefits.
Digital offset printing system manufacturer Presstek has created a new
legal entity, Presstek Asia Pte. Ltd., to manage Presstek's Asian
distribution channel. The new entity will feature Presstek DI digital
offset presses, Presstek Aurora Pro CTP plates, and the Presstek Aeon
high-resolution thermal CDTP plate. more
The Jiefang Daily in Shanghai is the first newspaper printer in China to use the Agfa Grapnics' N92-VCF printing plates. The paper reports the process provides a high degree of automation, increased efficiency, and improved quality of computer-to-plate production while reducing its chemical waste by 50%. It's next step is to move to full CTP production. more
