EFI Acquires printLEADER

EFI has acquired the assets of privately held printLEADER. a provider of print MIS (management information systems) software products for the printing industry headquartered in Palm City, Florida. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by either company, but EFI stated in the press release announcing the purchase the company does not expect the expense to be material to EFI's Q2 or full-year 2013 results. In addition, the release noted EFI intends to integrate printLEADER's MIS products into EFI's PrintSmith vision product line, part of EFI's EPS group. more

Domtar to Acquire Xerox’s United States and Canadian Paper Business

Domtar Corporation has signed, through its operating subsidiaries, an agreement to acquire Xerox’s paper and print media products business in the United States and Canada. more

Publishing Secrets Acquires InDesign Magazine and CreativePro.com

Publishing Secrets, the parent company of InDesignSecrets, has announced it has acquired InDesign Magazine and the company that published this magazine and maintains the Web site Creativepro.com from Printing For Less. Publishing Secrets also produces PepCon, an annual conference for InDesign professionals. more

alfa CTP systems Inc. and alfaQuest Technologies Announce Merger

alfa CTP systems Inc. of Tewksbury, Massachusetts and alfaQuest Technologies of Lake Zurich, Illinois have announced the companies will combine operations. The Massachusetts and Lake Zurich facilities will remain open and the product lines will remain the same. The new entity will operate under the name of alfa CTP

Xerox Acquires Impika

Xerox has announced it has acquired Impika, a manufacturer of aqueous inkjet presses. Impika product lines include iPrint, a range of continuous feed production printers with print speeds as fast as 375 meters per minute, and iPress, a range of graphic communications digital presses with resolutions of up to 2,400 x 1,200 dpi. Xeikon NV Target of Possible Takeover Bid

Xeikon NV issued a brief press release today saying the company is engaged in discussions with an unnamed company/party interested in entering into a potential public takeover of all Xeikon NV shares. According to the release, these discussions are preliminary, and Xeikon NV made the announcement because of financial regulatory requirements. more

EFI Acquires MIS/ERP Provider Technique

EFI has announced the acquisition of Technique, a MIS/ERP software provider to the publishing, commercial, and direct marketing print industries. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the acquisition is not expected to have material impact on EFI’s 2012 results. Technique consists of Technique Business Systems Ltd., a U.K. company, and Technique Inc., a Delaware corporation. more

Nustream and LR Graphic Form Nustream Group in Canada

Nustream Graphic Inc. and LR Graphic have merged to form NuStream Group, with ties to Nustream Graphic America in the United States, to serve its customers in Toronto and Montreal. The company has a new identity and logo and a new Web site. more

Pearson Acquires GlobalEnglish

Pearson has announced the acquisition of GlobalEnglish Corp. for $90 million in cash. Global English provides Cloud-based, on-demand business English learning, assessment, and performance support software. The company services more than 450 corporate customers, including 20% of the Forbes Global 2000. The client list includes General Electric, Tata Consultancy Services, and Unilever. more 

Hewlett-Packard Announces Restructuring and Elimination of 27,000 Jobs

Hewlett-Packard has announced a multi-year restructuring effort scheduled to end in 2014 which involves the elimination of approximately 27,000 jobs, about 8% of the company's entire labor force. The company estimates the changes will help save the company several billion dollars. No details about how the restructuring might affect the HP Indigo division were released. more

RR Donnelley to Acquire EDGAR Online

RR Donnelley and EDGAR Online have announced the two companies have signed a agreement for RR Donnelley to acquire EDGAR Online, a leading provider of disclosure management services, financial data and enterprise risk analytics software and solutions. The deal is valued at approximately $70.5 million and is expected to close during the third quarter of 2012. more

Danaher to Acquire X-Rite

X-Rite Inc. has announced an agreement under which Danaher will acquire X-Rite for $5.55 per share in cash, a total of approximately $625 million including assumption of debt. The transaction was unanimously approved by the X-Rite Board of Directors. The tender offer is expected to commence within five business days of the April 10 signing. Stockholders holding approximately 68% of the voting power of X-Rite’s outstanding share have indicated they will sell their shares. more 

EFI Acquires Metrics Sistemas

Electronics for Imaging Inc. has acquired privately-held Metrics Sistemas de Informacao (Metrics), a developer of MIS ERP systems for Latin American printing and packaging industries. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but it is not expected to have material impact on EFI’s 2012 results. EFI plans to use Metrics and its customer base as the foundation for entry into the Latin American market. more

QuadGraphics Buys Minority Share of Manipal Technologies to Expand into Asian Markets

QuadGraphics Inc. has created a strategic partnership and purchased minority interest in Manipal Technologies, a printer of security products such as debit and credit cards and bank checks based in India. The partnership gives QuadGraphics an entry into Asian markets and broadens its product and service scope. more
