Printing Industries of America Offers Assistance in CoC Certification for Sustainability

Printing Industries of America is offering assistance to printers in establishing chain-of-custody (CoC) certification required for use of the Forest Stewardship Council and Sustainable Forest Initiative logos. These logos demonstrate integrity and environmental responsibility in printed pieces. Printing Industries of America compliance experts are already assisting dozens of members in the process of documenting CoC certification. more

SGIA has announced the Journey to Sustainability, Beyond Paper and Packaging conference in cooperation with the Printing Industries of Wisconsin, Flexographic Technical Association, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The Forest Stewardship Council, Sustainable Forestry Initiative and Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification have awarded Chain-of-Custody certification to Lighting Source. The certification enable Ingram to offer a broad selection of certified paper to customers in the United Kingdom and United States. more

FujiFilm Helps North Carolina Printer Stay Green

Universal Printing in Durham, NC, has operated as an environmentally friendly company for 30 years. It has an aggressive recycling program for aluminum and paper, uses ink make of 100% linseed oil, and has nearly eliminated VOCs in the pressroom. Its latest environmental improvement has been to overall its prepress operation, eliminating plate processes and their associated chemicals and reducing water use to zero. The key to this overhaul has been installation of a new 4-up Dart thermal platesetter using Fujifilm Ecomaxx-T processless plates. more
