Monotype Announces Commercial Launch of Typecast Web Design Application

Monotype Imaging Holdings has announced the commercial launch of its Typecast application, a browser-based tool for designing Web pages with Web fonts. The company says the tool allows users to scan visually style text directly within a browser, resulting in better typographic control and a simplified workflow. Zevrix 1.3.10 Facilitates Document Output from InDesign

Zevrix Solutions has announced Output Factory 1.3.10, a feature update that automates printing, exporting, and post-processing from InDesign. The company says the new version allows users to output InDesign documents as single files rather than splitting them into single pages. more

Markzware has announced ID2Q XTensions for QuarkXPress 8 and 9 with InDesign CS6 support for Macintosh and Windows computers. The company says the extensions provide a quick, easy way to open InDesign CS INDD in a new QXP document. more

Zevrix Solutions Adds Supports for Multi-State Objects

Zevrix Solutions has announced LinkOptimizer 4.7.8, a feature update to the workflow automation system for Adobe InDesign. The company says the update reduces the size of InDesign links and improves processing speed by eliminating excess image data while performing essential image adjustments, converting image formats, etc. The new version can process all images in an InDesign multi-state object such as a slide show, rather than just the active state link. more

ADAM Releases Teamwork 1.1

ADAM Software has released version 1.1 of its Teamwork cross-media annotation, proofing, and approval studio tool for use with all rich-media file types, including images, video, audio, and text. The company says new features of the release include support or mobile approvals, advanced workflow tools, and a new API. The mobile approval feature works through the Teamwork Mobile Web site. more

Meadows Releases Free QR Code Adobe InDesign Module

Meadows Publishing Solutions has released its 2-D Bar Code Module for Adobe InDesign with a free license option for producing QR Codes. The module can generate QR Code, Data Matrix, and PDF417 two-dimensional bar codes in Adobe InDesign documents. more

ArtiosCAD 12 Adds New Dimension to Structural Packaging Design

Esko has announced ArtiosCAD version 12, with 3-D printing features, Intelligent Dielines tools, and Cloud-based collaboration to bring products, including retail-ready packaging, to market faster. The company says the new release provides new tools for packaging design and process integration to help users gain productivity and increase efficiency. more

Adobe Releases Photoshop Touch 1.3

Adobe has announced immediate availability of Photoshop Touch 1.3 for iPad and Android tablets. Photoshop Touch provides the core Photoshop features, allowing users to create layered images, edit images, and apply professional effects on a tablet. The resulting images can be shared through Facebook or synced through the Adobe Creative Cloud to be refined in Photoshop CS6. New features include Retina Display support for iPad, higher-resolution capabilities, the addition of Russian and Brazilian Portuguese and addition of two new effects: Shred and Colorize. The new version is available as a free update to existing Photoshop Touch users or $9.99 for new users. more

Markzware PDF2DTP Automates Converting PDFs

Markzware has released PDF2DTP, a data conversion plug-in for Adobe InDesign CS6, that allows users to convert content from PDFs into an editable format within Adobe InDesign. The plug-in will recover embedded images and save them in a job folder as well as place the text, frames, images, and colors into the InDesign document. more

Meadows Publishing Announces DesignMerge for InDesign

Meadows Publishing Solutions has released DesignMerge, a plug-in for Adobe InDesign CS6 supporting creation of variable data output from any Adobe InDesign document. Features include automatic copy-fitting, menu-driven conditional logic programming, multi-up layout support, and PostScript, PPML, Creo VPS, and PDF/VT output. The company says the new version includes direct PDF/VT output and variable 2-D bar code support. more

MacMall Web Studio Contest Announced

MacMall is running a video studio makeover contest with first prices of hardware and software packages for large and small studios. The large studio prize, for studios of 11 employees and above, is worth $9,400 and includes an Apple 15.4” MacBook Pro with Retina Display, two Wacom Intuos5 Touch Medium Professional Pen Tablets, and Adobe CS 6 Master Collection for Mac. A subscription-based service, Adobe Creative Cloud provides tools for making, sharing, and delivering creative work and includes access to a Software-as-a-Service version of CS6. more
