In an attempt to identify the source of news articles it republishes and to provide credit to the journalists who researched and wrote the articles, Google has introduces two new metatags for Google News: syndication-source and original-source. The first indicates the preferred URL for a syndicated article; Google hopes publishers will use this to indicate the preferred version of a story, particularly when two or more versions with only slight differences are in circulation. The second indicates the URL of the first article reporting on a subject, and Google is encouraging publishers to use this metatag to indicate the story source. more
