SGIA has released its annual Financial Outlook and Business Growth Plans Report for the specialty imaging community. The report finds imagers rebounding from the deep recession in the midst of a still erratic economy, with two-thirds of graphics and sign companies and almost 60% of garment decoration companies purchasing new equipment in 2011. More than half of the garment decorator companies that purchased equipment expanded capacity in the expectation of continued business growth. Printing Industries of America has announced Drew Davis, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-founder of Tippingpoint Labs, and John Lawson, CEO of 3rd Power Outlet, will be the keynote speakers at Integrated Printing Forum 2012 October 29-30 at the Printing Industries of America facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The forum focuses on integrating print with other media to enhance product offerings and build new revenue streams. more
EFI has announced a certification training program for Fiery digital print servers, tools, and software. The company says the program teaches essential skills to increase production capacity and tests skill acquisition through a certification exam. more
IMI has announced the addition of a new short course: Nanotechnology and Opportunities for Digital Printing to its Inkjet Technology Showcase 2012 in the Hyatt Rosemont in Chicago. The course, scheduled for September 7, will provide an overview of this field and its potential in the digital printing industry. more

Graph Expo has announced the 2012 Positively Print awards program to recognize printing industry companies and organizations that best promote the use of print in advertising and promotional campaigns. Entries may include tear sheets, TV commercials, videos, Web ads, and e-advertising produced between June 9, 2011 and the August 31, 2012 entry deadline. The awards will be presented following the Executive Outlook Conference on October 6, the eve of Graph Expo 2012, which is scheduled for October 7-10 at Chicago’s McCormick Place. more

Adobe has announced Communication Suite 4, including new versions of FrameMaker, RoboHelp, Illustrator, Captivate, Presenter, and Acrobat X Pro. Communications Suite 4 is designed as a single-source authoring and multi-device publishing toolkit for technical writers, instructional designers, and others involved in publishing long documents and technical documentation. more
Printing Industries of America has announced the 12 recipients of the 2012 InterTech Technology Awards. An independent panel of judges selected the award winners from a large number of technology nominations that demonstrated printing technology advances. more
