Pantone has announced the addition of 336 new colors to the Pantone Plus Series, the next generation of the Pantone Matching System, bringing the system total to 1,677 colors. The company says the 25% increase in defined shades gives designers more options and flexibility. more

MGi Digital Graphic Technology will show its new JETvarnish 3-D inkjet spot UV coater with increased production speed and 3-D spot embossing capabilities at drupa. The new machine combines production spot UV coating speeds and enhanced UV coating thickness, creating a 3-D effect with variable thicknesses. more

Semper Intl Reports Uptick in Industry Job Market

Semper International, a major placement firm for skilled help for graphics and printing companies, reports the print industry bounced back in April after a dip in late February and March. The findings are based on its quarterly survey of trends of more than 300 companies in the printing and graphics industries. The survey includes questions on revenue and hiring and estimated future performance. more 

SGIA Releases Industry Pulse Benchmarking Report

SGIA has released its first quarter 2012 Industry Pulse Benchmarking Report, providing segmented performance reports based on annual sales revenue. The report covers the graphic and sign, garment decoration, and industrial printing segments of the graphic communications industry. more

Enfocus and HP Partner to Automate Digital Print Production

Enfocus is working with HP to automate and streamline the digital print production process for HP Indigo users under the Enfocus Crossroads Partner Program. Enfocus will use Enfocus Switch to integrate Smart Automation into the HP Indigo SmartStream Designer application and HP SmartStream Production Print Server. HP Indigo users will be able to use Enfocus PitStop for Smart PDF Preflight and correction. Enfocus and HP will demonstrate the integrated solutions at drupa. more
