API Publishing, a division of the American Institute of Physics, has partnered with MathJax, providing major funding and using MathJax to render mathematics in API Publishing online journals. MathJax is an Open Source JavaScript display engine that creates math displays in all modern browsers. Design Science initiated and directs the MathJax project. more

Printing Industries of America has named e-LYNXX a 2011 recipient of its Best Workplace in the Americas award. The association evaluated companies in the United States and Canada based on their management practices, work environment, training, and development opportunities, financial security, work/life balance, recognitions and rewards, and health and wellness programs. Opaltone Awarded U.S. Patent for Color Inkjet System

The U.S. Patent Office has granted Opaltone Australia a patent for its new six-tone color inkjet system. The company plans to use the patented technology on commercial inkjet printer to expand the color gamut beyond conventional CMYK. more

Kodak Wins Major German Printing Industry Innovation Award

The German printing industry has named the Kodak Nexpress SX Digital Production Color Platform with the long-sheet option winner of its 2011 Innovation Award as Most Innovative Technology in the printing category. The awards, organized by the Deutscher Drucker Verlagsgesellschaft publishing house, are chosen by a poll of Deutscher Drucker and Grafische Palette readers, two leading German trade journals, and print.de, from a total of 30 technologies nominated by the publications’ editors. more

Hewlett-Packard Issues Call for Entries for New Print Excellence Awards

Hewlett-Packard has issued a call for entries for the HP Print Excellence Awards, a new worldwide competition for graphic arts produced on HP Designjet, Indigo, and Scitex printers. An international panel of print experts will judge entries in 16 categories including commercial print, wide-format graphics, and label and packaging applications. The awards will recognize print quality and innovation in environmentally responsible printing. March 15 is the entry deadline; HP will announce the winners during drupa 2012. more

Color-Logic Partners with Nazdar to Develop UV Inks

Color-Logic has formed a technology partnership with Nazdar, a manufacturer of ultraviolet, water-based, and solvent-based wide-format digital, screen printing, and flexographic inks. The two companies will develop UV inks that complement the Color-Logic Process Metallic Color System and enable screen printers to take advantage of Color-Logic features, according to Color-Logic Director of Sales and Marketing Mark Geeves. Color-Logic has approved several Nazdar ink families for use with the Process Metallic Color System. more
